Good place. I have relatives living in Avondale, a little farther out than 91st,, have visited and it seems very nice. And safe.

I did termite & pest control in that area for years. It's nice in the newer areas but it has a serious gang problems. Lowriders & drugs rule there.

The combined cities of Avondale/Goodyear have gone from farming communities to bedroom urban areas to phoenix in the last 5-7 years, Barring traffic jams, down town Phoenix is about a 20 minute drive to the east, and the Ca. border only 120 miles or so to the west. 15 minutes N. is the new NFL stadium, home of the Az. Cardinals , and is the newest such stadium in the country. A full range of shopping, golf, and Major League Baseball spring training facilities are all nearby, and so is Phoenix International Speedway, with 2 annual Nascar races a year. Luke AFB is the home of the USAF F-16 training Command, 10 minutes N. of downtown Avondale. Raul&Teresa's mexican restaurant is a favorite of locals for decades, located at Litchfield Rd. and Hiway 85(Buckeye Rd.). Most available housing is affordable, but located in HOA developments. Apt.s and towhomes are plentiful, with a wide varity of prices and amenities. There are two new major medical centers in the area. Last year, smoking in all bars, restaurants, and businesses statewide was banned, though most have attempted to provide smoking patios where ever possible. Summer temps average 105-110 degrees, winter in the mid 70s. On average nearly 320 days of sunshine a year. Being a "Dry Heat" doesn't make it any better, no matter what anyone says. Phoenix, and the more than a dozen other municipalities make up the Valley of the Sun. World class museums, nearby mountains with skiing, winter sports, and summer activities, the Salt River Recreation area in the east valley with summer tubing rides, many lakes close to the area, and many colleges and ASU, the nation's largest state University, make this a diverse place to live. Not much. Golf? You're on the west side off the I-10 and basically, there's nothing out there except residential areas. It was made as a suburb during the housing boom as was much of the west side. Usually, after about 8pm downtown Phoenix usually becomes a ghost town unless there's a ballgame or something else going on. I wasn't much into the night scene. If you have computer access, you can go to azcentral.com and you can find things to do that are posted on the website. You can go to the website and you'll see at the top of the page "things to do" and click on that.
