Alabama???
Question:
If you live in Alabama or have lived there, could you please tell me what you like most about it and least about it?

Answer:
Hello, I've lived in Alabama for 8 years now. What I like most about living here: - most laid back atmosphere. - drivers are so kind to each other, and to pedestrian and bikers. - mild winter, which I love. - No long wait in the Alabama airports because they're not busy airports but have great connections. - Food! you get everything here as well: southern food, ethnic foods, seafood, yum! - As far as entertainment is concerned, AL has waterparks, national parks for camping & hiking, racecar, huntville's NASA base, malls, downtown clubs, other hiking trails without bears, the beaches down Gulf Shores, and others. What I like least about living here: - hot, humid, summer days (but I keep cool with iced tea & ice cream). - 9% sale tax! - no lottery - some counties are dry counties - during season transition (winter-spring or summer-fall) the temperature is so unstable, e.g., one day it is as warm as in the 80s then suddenly it drops to the 40's at night. I have to watch my plants every time! Hope those help! Thanks for asking! :)

Alabama marijuana MMS, am i really going to jail for 3 years for 6 plants in the closet?
Question:
I live in alabama, madision county (huntsville) and i got caught with a small personal grow in my closet (6 small immature plants) and i was looking at the alabama marijuana laws and it says alabama has law with MMS (mandatory min sentencing). Through further reading i found that the judge has no power to sentence a person to less than the MMS. So am i (a peacful college student that never hurt anybody) really going to jail for 3 years?

Answer:
In the State of Alabama, Alabama Criminal Code 13A-12-217, the offense is Unlawful Manufacture of a Controlled Substance 2nd Degree. It is a felony offense carrying no less than one year and a day in jail. Because you're in college and hopefully never in trouble before you will most likely receive a stiff monetary fine, court costs and fees, plus a lengthy probation, and maybe a suspended sentence. In Alabama, you can apply for Youthful Offender or Pre-Trial Diversion. Talk to your attorney soon!

How did Alabama football team get there mascot the elephant?
Question:
Because I don't really picture Alabama an elephant. It's so weird I want to know how it happened.

Answer:
In the 1930 Alabama-Ole Miss game, Coach Wallace Wade started his second string in the first quarter. They were still bigger than the Mississippi first string but Ole Miss was hanging tough. Sports writer Everett Strupper, of the Atlanta Journal, wrote "At the end of the (first) quarter, the earth started to tremble, there was a distant rumble that continued to grow. Some excited fan in the stands bellowed, 'Hold your horses, the elephants are coming,' and out stamped this Alabama varsity." Several other writers referred to the Alabama linemen Red Elephants and the name stuck. That is how Alabama came to be associated with elephants. Now, the Crimson Tide mascot is an elephant fittingly named Big Al.
