Connecticut?
Question:
What do people like about connecticut. I have never been, but i am looking at a few colleges located in new haven, fairfield, and hamden. Are those good areas? Is there a lot to do?

Answer:
I live in Connecticut.. I live in the middle of nowhere, but new haven is pretty busy, and those other towns as well, like the reply above, Uconn Storrs is an excellent school, a friend of mine went there, and i lived 8 minutes away from it for a while. New Haven is a little sketchy, but thats comparing it to Washington, Connecticut.. which is like.. a tissue compared to a news paper.. sorry thats a really poor analogy but its what came to mind at this hour of the night. if any of this is helpful great, if not, great also, good luck with the college hunt

How can I find out if Connecticut is a state that requires contracts to be notarized to be legally binding?
Question:
The Secretary of State's Office of Connecticut won't answer this question for me, even though they are the ones who train and license notary publics! They said that they don't handle contracts, and to consult a lawyer! I know that only some states require notarization of contracts (or only real estate-related contracts), but I need to know if Connecticut is one of them.

Answer:
No state requires that contracts be notarized...

How do I become a teacher in Connecticut?
Question:
I have read that Connecticut has the highest average salary for teachers out of any state, so I would very much like to get certified and teach there. I will have an undergraduate degree in Mathematics from an out of state college in December. Does any one know of any certification programs I could look in to and apply? Also, is it hard to find a job as a teacher (not in the ghetto) in Connecticut? If it makes a difference, I want to teach math, as my undergraduate study implies.

Answer:
You need a masters degree before you can even be considered for a job as a teacher in a public school in connecticut. You also need to pass a test called the praxis, which is taken in 2 or 3 parts. Also from what I understand, it is difficult to get a job as a teacher in a good school system in connecticut. You don't need to know someone on the inside, but it would certainly help you a lot if you did. Good luck!

How do you get a Connecticut work permit?
Question:
I live in Connecticut and I'm applying for jobs. Every one says it's necessary to have a work permit. What exactly is a work permit, and how do you get one?

Answer:
It is only necessary to obtain a work permit if you are a minor (and a U.S. citizen - if you are not that is a whole different kettle of fish and you need a green card). The steps necessary to obtain such a work permit for a minor in Connecticut are: "Department of Labor Checklist for Minors Applying for Statement of Age/Working Papers Last Updated: December 07, 2007 DOL Web Site Wage and Workplace Issues Department of Labor Checklist for Minors Applying for Statement of Age/Working Papers: Are you at least 16 years old (15 years old for retail establishments during vacation weeks)? Do you have an employer's written promise of employment? Do you have proof of age such as a birth certificate, baptismal certificate, or passport? Do you have your Social Security card? Is the job permitted for your age according to Connecticut's laws/regulations? Is the industry permitted for your age according to Connecticut's laws/regulations? Are the time and hours of work permitted by law? If the answers to all of the above questions are "YES", take your "promise of employment" and proof of age and go to the public high school in your town, or contact your Superintendent of Schools. You MUST have working papers before you start work. Published by the Connecticut Department of Labor, Automation Support Unit"

What is the INS number in Connecticut to call for providing information about illegal workers?
Question:
What is the phone number that I can call to provide information to the US government or the INS about illegal workers in Stamford, Connecticut.

Answer:
The Immigration and Natralization Service no longer handles the detection and deportation of people in the United States without proper resident/immigrant documentation. That function has been turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The department in ICE that handles the function is called "Office of Detention and Removal Operations Offices". Be advised, the people who answer the telephone at the numbers listed can be rude, curt and overworked. You pretty much have to say that you personally have seen the HR department at the employer location creating fake documents or shredding documents or some other really hard proof before they will even take your complaint. If you have anything less than documentable proof they will tell you to call your local police. For example, if you live in Southern California and you have Latino neighbors who are living in a unit that is under 600 square feet and no one in the unit speaks English and there are over ten adult people living in the unit, from experience you could highly suspect that some of the people in the unit are undocumented. If you call the ICE number and you report this, you will be told to call code enforcement department at your local city hall. Good luck. Source(s): http://www.ice.gov/about/dro/contact.htm... How much is a 1885 antique Connecticut drivers license worth?
Question:
It is metal, and engraved in the metal is 1885 connecticut and the gentlemens name. Assuming this is legitimate, how much should one expect to pay for an item like this? Thanks! sorry dale b what does that mean?

Answer:
I don't think you have an actual driver's license there. Vehicles were not required to be registered in Connecticut until 1903. I do not believe drivers licenses were ever issued in metal, and most states didn't require a drivers license until much later.
