Question:
omgosh i am going to hawaii in december i am so excited! anyone else going or have been wats to do there SHOP! lay and get a tan at the beaches! wat should i pack shorts tanktops? flip flops 2 piece bathing suit ?

Answer:
Why Pack Anything? You said that you like to Shop so Shop in Hawai'i, you'll get the latest & greatest beach wear in the World right here - - - -- Heck you can get three to ten T-Shirts for between $10 & $20 around Honolulu and definitely at The Aloha Stadium Swap Meet. Treat yourself right - - - why lug around a heavy suitcase? Don't take any luggage - - - land on O'ahu and head for Pearlridge Mall and Have a Ball - - - and you're clothes will say, "hmm, she dresses like a local girl - --" but "her accent, her look," adds to the mystery - - - - nothing says tourists like a hard Rock New Jersey T-Shirt and Cap - - - . Go on line for Ala Moana Shopping Center, you can sign up for their newsletter and get discounts when you land and start shopping. The Same with Wards Shops better known as Victoria Ward Center Shops. Have Fun !!!! ALOHA.

HAWaII!!!!?
Question:
I need some suggestions and ideas on what to do on a Hawaiian vacation, where to go, best beaches, sites to see.... let me learn from your trip! be as detailed as possible, and thanks in advance!

Answer:
I would definitely recommend Kauai if have the time. It's one of the most natural laid back islands in Hawaii. Because it's the oldest, it has a lot of fine sandy beaches and on most of them, you will be all alone to enjoy it. If you like activities, try hiking the Napali coast. It's difficult, a little dangerous, and it leads to a secluded beach and waterfall that you can only reach by foot. On the west side of the island, there's Waimea canyon which is almost like seeing the grand canyon. What a diverse island! However, if you are looking for more of a party scene, you would probably wanna do Waikiki. They've got the best night life in Hawaii. You can hike up Diamond Head, check out a luau. (I'll warn you, poi (gray pasty food) is nasty). Enjoy your trip!

Can you help me convince my husband that Hawaii is the place to go for our anniversary?
Question:
My husband and I are in the early planning stages for a big milestone wedding anniversary. We initially decided on a cruise to Hawaii. Now he is waffling. He thinks Hawaii will be too "touristy". Well, it probably is, but I'm there for the beautiful scenery. Anyway, he responds best to visual simulation, so is there a movie (drama or comedy) that is filmed in Hawaii that casts it in a very beautiful light. I need to make my husband want to go to Hawaii again. Thank you in advance.

Answer:
I highly suggest coming to Kauai. I worked as a bartender at the airport in Lihue, and a good 95% of the people told me "This is what I thought Hawaii would be like." It has law that states quite literally that 'no building is to be higher off the ground than a coconut tree,' or about 3 stories, and it's true, you will never see a building higher off the ground here. There are a ton of movies that were filmed on Kauai, Jurassic Park, 6 Days 7 Nights, South Pacific, Donovan's Reef is a great example, it was filmed entirely here. Here are a couple more pics to help your husband see the untouched beauty of Kauai: http://www.flickr.com/photos/michaelandanna/224444719/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/65068167@N00/179578398/ http://www .flickr.com/photos/sparkyleigh/235234487/ http://www.flickr.com/ photos/sk8rsherman/491670962/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/wisdo c/22978084/ I couldn't post them all, but type the following key words into yahoo search and show him what comes up: Kauai, Kapaa, Lihue, Hanalei, and Wailua. The first will show you mostly the beauty of the island, and the rest will show you what to expect day to day driving around. I hope this helped, Happy Anniversery!

What part of Hawaii is the most beautiful to visit?
Question:
I have never been to Hawaii and am planning to vacation there next year. If I could only visit one part of Hawaii, what would you suggest?

Answer:
Cheese Queen, I'm born and raised in Hawaii and have never heard of that island.....looking for the "best" island depends on what you want to do.... Oahu is a big city, great beaches can be found but in Waikiki they are crowded--still white sandy beach, but crowded. You can rent a car and drive to the big surf beaches or about 45 minutes out to some much less crowded white sand beautiful beaches. The good thing about Oahu is the restaurants, nightlife and "things to do" are ENDLESS. Iolani Palace, the only royal palace on US soil, Bishop Museum provide cultural education side if you want to explore that, plus the Arizona Memorial is a MUST for all ages. You'll be very awed. So if you can drive to the scenery and drive to the secluded beaches, you can go back to your hotel at night and party. If you want SECLUSION and you want to be ALONE and you want QUIET, then Kaui is beautiful, also the rainiest and the "everything closes up at 9pm." Maui is much like Kauai except you'll drive more and there is a bit more "action". It's in between Oahu and Kauai. Still, not a lot to do at night after you do a luau. Big Island. It's Big. Not only you better have a car, you better WANT to discover the volcano aspect and some cultural aspect and do NOT expect to see any beaches there. Few and far between. You will find if you look good and are able to get around, the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific" and black sand and green sand beaches. My vote, Oahu for first timers. Just make sure you rent a car for at least ONE day and get OUT of Waikiki.

What part of Hawaii is the best vacation spot?
Question:
My hubby and I were planning on going to Hawaii for a few days in June. I was wondering what place is best to stay to get the most out of it. We want to get do some sight seeing of things like volcanoes and do some water sports. I would also like to check out a luau if possible. I have heard that Honolulu is a packed city and I don't know that I want to be there, because I really don't care for the "big city" aspect of vacationing. So what would you suggest?

Answer:
If you dont want the "big city" vaca, dont plan to stay on Oahu (Honolulu, Waikiki) This is all city, all tourists. You will see your volcanos on the Big Island, Luaus on any island (you can find them everywhere) Maui is more laid back and romantic. 101 things to do in Hawaii ~ use yahoo search

What is the cheapest cruise to Hawaii you know?
Question:
Me and a friend want to take a cruise to hawaii next year, but all the prices are so high. Does anyone know of a cheap cruise to Hawaii?

Answer:
The cheapest cruises I've seen, and I've seen these a couple of times, usually by Princess roundtrip California 14 & 15 nighters for $998 pp. You do have to keep in mind that when cruising from the mainland you spend most of your days at sea and not quite as many actually touring the islands. I consider a good deal on a 2 week cruise out of the mainland to be no more than $1200 pp anything higher is too much.

What present should I get my baby from Hawaii?
Question:
This is my 9 month old sons first time in hawaii and I want to get him something he can have from the trip. I would prefer something he can use. Something that shows it's from hawaii and not just from a hawaii walmart like a toy. I've thought of hawaiian clothes, a hawaiian book cause he loves those, and maybe a frame saying his first time or something. But are there any suggestions of something I can get him that would be memorable and usable?

Answer:
I would take lots and lots of pictures and journal the entire trip. Getting him things arent going to matter or mean anything to him in the long run because it wont be remembered and therefore not be special to him. If anything perhaps some shells that he can play with when he gets older? When my children were 1 we went to Florida. My now 9 year old twins are able to remember bits and pieces of the trip from seeing pictures and talking about what happened while we were down there. Their most favorite memory was when we saw the water tornado on the beach in Destin. We have pictures and a newspaper cliping and they are able to fill in details that we have never told them when we talk about it.

What is the prettiest part of hawaii to visit?
Question:
I want to go on a honeymoon in hawaii but I really dont know anything about hawaii, where should I get a hotel?

Answer:
In my own opinion Maui has the most things to do, but Kuaui is the prettiest. Shop around and you can get a good deal on your hotel room. A good source to comparison shop for a hotel if you haven't already tried is http://www.tripadvisor.com Congratulations!

What is the difference between Asians in Hawaii and those on the mainland USA?
Question:
Is there a difference between Asians (in general) on the mainland and those in Hawaii? Such as a dress difference, attitude difference, even physical difference, etc. And while we're on the subject, would anybody like to pinpoint exactly what they believe the difference is among Asians in Asia, Hawaii, and mainland USA?

Answer:
This is a very interesting question....but its a hard one to answer. This is like asking what is the difference between Caucasians living in England vs the US mainland vs Hawaii. There's really no real answers to this. I, being an Asian who lived in Asia, on the US Mainland AND Hawaii, I can give you some general ideas. First of all, there is a difference in attitude and dress no matter what ethic group you are. People in Hawaii tend to dress more casually and are more laid back than most people on the mainland USA. US is a very very diverse country, people from the east coast will dress differently than the west coasts/south/north. As to the comparison with Asia....that is just WAYYYYY too general...I guess the only thing I can say about that is Asians in Asia are probably more traditional in terms of following the rules of their own culture, whereas Asians in the US are largely 2nd/3rd generations and are less culturally strict....more americanized? I suppose.
