MASSACHUSETTS????????
Question:
WHat are peoples views towards it. Im from Mass and I wanna Know What people think about Massachusetts. Also, Georgia. I was born in Georgia

Answer:
Hey. I'm from Massachusetts but I live in Georgia now. Georgia just gets lumped in with south. Or people think of Atlanta... which, they don't realize it here, but people pretty much only associate the city with rappers and Gone with the Wind. As for Massachusetts - it's known for being extremely liberal, blue state, borderline socialist, gay marriage, anti-gun, high taxes, crazy Red Sox fans (rabid aggressive fans, in general for all the sports), Irish Catholic, bad accents, aggressive drivers, tons of colleges, and for the Kennedy family.

What is Massachusetts' stance on how the federal government should make college more affordable?
Question:
Since college costs are constantly increasing, what does Massachusetts want the federal government to do about it? Thanks!

Answer:
To be honest, I'm not sure. But I do know from experience that Deval Patrick's office will respond to you right away if you email them this question. :)

What age in Massachusetts can you legally leave home without your parents permission?
Question:
I have been told/read that at 17 you can legally move out of your parents home, and that the police won't bother because you're so close to the legal age of moving out. I want to move out of state with my friend who used to live here, and would like to know what the laws are. DO NOT ANSWER THIS WITHOUT KNOWLEDGE OF MASSACHUSETTS MINOR LAWS. I am 17 and my home life is not good, not teenage "i hate my parents" kind of stuff either.

Answer:
18 is the legal age of majority in MASS, so 18 is the legal age at which you can move out without having to worry. However, many law enforcement officers will not drag a 17 year old kicking and screaming back to their parents house providing they are in a safe place. If you decide to move out of state, you also have to worry about THAT states laws. If your question is 'is there a law that will allow you to leave and not worry about being dragged back', the answer is no.

What is the Massachusetts procedure for getting a driver's permit and lincense?
Question:
I'm almost 18, but I heard that the driving laws in Massachusetts differ from that of California. Because in Cali, once you become 18, you can walk into a DMV and get a driver's license. I just moved and would like to know what I can do here in MA.

Answer:
"Obtaining a Class D Permit and License" from the MA DMV: http://www.mass.gov/rmv/license/5classd.htm details the documents and forms (and $30 fee) that you need to take the written (multiple choice and on a computer, last I checked) exam (and vision exam) needed to get the learner's permit. The only difference between <18 and >18 is that if you are <18 you need a parental consent form and if you are >18 you need proof of MA residency. To get a license, you need the permit, another form and fee, and pass the road test. (You need to provide a licensed sponsor over age 21, and also a vehicle, for the road test.) If you are <18, you also need a parental consent form, and have completed a state driver's education course (with certifercate). You may also want the driver's ed. certifercate for a discount on your auto insurance, as well, even if you do not need it for your license if over 18. See also the "FAQs About Learner’s Permits & Junior Operator Licenses" http://www.mass.gov/rmv/jol/21336_web.pdf Overview of the Junior Operator Law: http://www.mass.gov/rmv/jol/requirements.htm

Answer:
You need a graduate degree in either social work or clinical psychology to be a counselor. For undergrad, just try to go to the best college academically that you can get into. Massachusetts has some of the top colleges in the nation: Williams, Amherst, Harvard, Holy Cross, Boston College, Tufts to name just a few.

Massachusetts colleges for one who wants to be a teacher?
Question:
I want to major in either English or history and become an English or history teacher. I really would like to go the college in Massachusetts, and to one that is as inexpensive as possible. So that basically leaves out private colleges. Any suggestions?

Answer:
Historically, Bridgewater State College has provided teaching degrees at a reasonable price. You would be OK I think at any of the UMass campuses. Best of luck!
