History of Koogler Wetlands in Beavercreek, Ohio?
Question:
My family and I recently visited the Koogler wetlands in Beavercreek, Ohio (corner of New Germany-Trebein and Beaver Valley Roads). We discovered that there were a handful of old, burned-out homes/buildings with brick wall ruins near the entrance in the woods. There is also a wide-spread garbage heap of glasses, dishes, bottles, toys, clothes, shoes, a large old furnace, metal objects, etc... that appear to be from the the 1950's/60's/70's---possibly the garbage that was cleaned out of the homes after the fires. Can anyone tell me what family lived on this land. Was it a large grass fire that took out all those buildings at once? What year did it happen? Did anyone die? Basically any info on the history of this wetland preserve before it became what it is today. I have searched the internet and cannot find anything, beyond it was donated by the Koogler brothers a few years ago. I will also be checking with the Beavercreek Historical Society if all else fails. Thanks!

Answer:
I think the fire occurred after the homes were emptied. The garbage was probably from the homes and from locals who dumped it there. The state of Ohio kicked in some money to clean up the Koogler Wetlands. Beavercreek acquired it (and other parcels) in order to keep open space and prevent it from being developed into housing, etc. I have no idea why the homes were emptied, although I can conjecture, based upon other similar examples, that the land was bought and the families were bought out, or eminent domain was used to force them out. I have been to many parks where I find home foundations and ruins, and that is generally the story behind them. Although they do add a fun bit of mystery to the parks in my own opinion. My educated guess is this: The people who lived in the homes were bought out, because at one time the land was going to be developed. The development project fell through (which is a common occurrence). The Koogler's then bought it, then the town of Beavercreek acquired it so they could guarantee that it wouldn't ever be developed. Your query is interesting though, you have gotten me curious for the definitive answer. Perhaps simply emailing the town of Beavercreek might provide the final answer.

Does anyone go to Beavercreek High in Beavercreek, Ohio?
Question:
If anyone can tell me how Beavercreek High is and the area

Answer:
sorry didnt go there myself but i had two roommates in college from beavercreek. heres what i know: they have a bad football team. beavercreek itself is really a nice city that used to be a small town, but has become a very commercialized area (with a large shopping mall). from what i understood from my roommates, there is a number of high school students who believe they are still in a farm town and will wear cowboy hats and boots accordingly. there are also the typical cliques and being that it is a rather large school (it is division 1 athletically - thats the biggest it gets in Ohio), there is probably a group for any student. as far as academics, sorry i'm no help there. seems to be fairly average, but i dont have any stats.
