What are the advantages and disadvantages of living in Knoxville, Tennessee?
Question:
What are some of the benefits and risk for living in Knoxville, Tennessee if you are living on your own with no family or friends around?

Answer:
You would probably love it, slower paced friendly people and probably some decent job opportunities with the right education. Depending on where you are from, the winters are alot milder. You would be close to Pigeon Forge and Gutenberg, beautiful state parks and hiking trails. We moved to Tennesse three years ago after a lifetime in Indiana and we love it here.

How Do I place an ad for a volunteer looking for a part-time job in 37931 Knoxville, Tennessee?
Question:
I am a 13 year old teenager in 7th grade looking for a part-time job in Knoxville, Tennessee in 37931. I am able to work on most weekends and I love animals. I will do anything to help any shelter in 37931. I will love working with animals even no pay. I would be happy if an animal shelter will please allow me to work their. I would be very happy.

Answer:
Hi sweetie. U sound awesome. I did so much volunteer work when I was ur age. What u need to do is ask ur parents if they have a phone book around the house. Look up Vets, and Any animal hospital u can find. Also u can look up SPCA's (animal shelters) also a great one would be a place that does boarding care for animals. Thats a place, (most of the time someones home)where people going on vaction take there animals to, so that they can be cared for while the owners are on vaction. They do things like feed them, play with them, walk them, talk to them, try to train them to do tricks, brush them and give them baths... all sortsa things. Call around and see if anyone is looking for a Volunteer worker. Tell them about yourself and what u like and what u are able to do for them. Chances are u will be given alot of things to do and at a few different places and pretty soon if u show that ur a hard worker then they may just hire u. Also when u get old enough to have a real job, volunteer work looks GREAT on a resume!. When u get a job (even volunteering) do it the best way u can. Work hard and prove yourself. U will see that 1)u get taught so many things u never new before 2) u get to meet ppl and help out animals and 3) it just feels so good leanding a helping hand. You can also write up something to give to each of these companies. Make a letter that sounds so awesome that NO ONE can refuse. Send it to all the companies in which u wanna work at. U cant go wrong. Good Luck and I hope I have helped u. U can always email me at iowa_dewdrop@yahoo.com if u need help with the letter or need other pointers. Also most important... in all that hard work Dont forget to have fun too;)

Where is a large flea market in or near Knoxville, Tennessee?
Question:
I recently moved into Tennessee, and I'm looking for one of the larger flea markets in the Knoxville area. I'm looking specifically for an event where they sell weapons. My boyfriend is a huge collector of knives, and we just don't know where anything is around here. I need to know where the place is located, and, also, if you could tell me what days of the week it's open that would be a huge help! Thanks in advance!

Answer:
Friend, there is a huge flee market East of Knoxville at the Sevierville exit 407. It is called Dumplin Valley Flee Market. You can see it from the Interstate 40 on the right before exiting. Guns? not sure. But I have been to a farmers market that is held on Saturday morning (not sure if every Saturday or not). This is a big thing for them: they buy, sell, trade anything from farm animals to all types of hand guns, rifles, shot guns as there are a lot of them who are hunters; all used, but in great condition. Morristown is farther East and up I-85. The farmers are there very early. This is all I know; for more info get with community services, etc.

How is Oak Ridge, Nashville and Knoxville Tennessee?
Question:
I have some friends who are thinking of visiting Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Knoxville, Tennessee and Nashville Tennessee... can anyone tell me some facts and information on how these 3 places are? Are the people nice, is there high-speed internet available, etc? Thank you, I'd appreciate any and all information.

Answer:
I am from Tennessee, I live about 30 miles north of Nashville. Nashville is a very busy city with CRAZY traffic and costruction constantly going on, so be prepared for long delays, as far as the people go, I wouldn't say Nashville is a "friendly" place, our crime rates are up and lots of business owners in downtown Nashville are forgein and don't speak much English, but as far as Knoxville goes, it seems to be a more friendly enviroment and has lots of fun attractions. Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge are just an hour or so away, and they provide TONS of places to visit, from dinner and shows, to river rafting, water parks, and rides. Have a wonderful trip!

How much would a plane ticket from canada, hamilton to knoxville, tennessee cost?
Question:
like the cheapest they get and if all possible u cud give me the price for a hotel 2 like really cheap in like knoxville tennessee because my boyfriend is gonna try and come down from canada 4 my birthday on january 18 :)

Answer:
There are no scheduled flights out of Hamilton airport, so you'll have to go to Pearson Intl. to catch a flight down south, and then catch a connecting flight on to Knoxville. Most major airlines, including Continental (connecting in Cleveland), Delta (Cincinnati), Northwest (Detroit), United (Washington), Air Canada (Washington), U.S. Airways (Charlotte, NC), and American Airways (Chicago) offer an advance purchase one-way fare of about CAD$220 or CAD$440 round-trip. Another option would be to catch a flight from Buffalo, which would save you some $$$. Delta Airlines offers a flight from Buffalo to Knoxville, with connection in Cincinnati for only USD$131 (CAD$141) available at http://delta.com and Northwest and United offer similarly low rates. To get from Hamilton to Pearson Intl., you can take GO Transit for around $10. Consult their website at http://gotransit.com for schedules. You could also take a taxi, or an aiport shuttle, like http://www.airwaystransit.com . To get from Hamilton to Buffalo Airport, you can take the Jetways Shuttle service ( http://www.jetways.ca ) from the Hamilton Sheratan Hotel on King St. for $48 one-way. For a cheaper rate, you can take a Coach Canada bus from Hamilton to Buffalo Airport. Consult http://coachcanada.com for schedules, and call 1-800-461-7661 to get the fares (not available on-line). Greyhound also offers service to Buffalo Airport for only $9.50, but it involves connecting in Toronto, and take 4-7 hours. http://greyhound.ca On another note, if you've got a lot of time on your hands, and you want to save some money, you may be interested to know that it's possible to travel round-trip from Hamilton to Knoxville BY BUS on Greyhound for $168, or much less if you're a student, senior, veteran, or CAA/AAA member. Hope this helps. Feel free to e-mail me at thejeremy.net@gmail.com for more info.

Does the University of Tennessee Knoxville campus have a Med school?
Question:
I was wondering. I know there is a UT Med school in Memphis, but I don't really want to go to Memphis. Is there one in Knoxville, as well?

Answer:
From the UT website: Three fully integrated campuses (Memphis, Knoxville and Chattanooga) constitute the University of Tennessee College of Medicine. There are 25 departments on our Memphis Campus, nine departments on our Knoxville campus, and ten departments on our Chattanooga campus. Medical Students from the College of Medicine spend their first two years on the Memphis Campus and then rotate on all three Campuses for clinical training. GME Programs and active research and clinical practice programs are present on all three College of Medicine campuses.

What is sorority life really like at the University of Tennessee Knoxville?
Question:
I'm considering joining a sorority once I get to college. I've been looking at some websites about the sororities, but they can only tell you so much. I want to know what sorority life is really like. Are there really wild parties and great friends, or is it just something to put on your resume?

Answer:
It has been a while since I visited UT-K but I can tell you this: you will get out of it what you put into it. If all you're looking for is the social aspect then that is likely all the experience will be for you. If you are a great friend already then you'll make new great friendships in your sorority. Yes, there will inevitably be some wild parties- it's college. Even if you went to a school with no fraternities or sororities there would be wild parties. Enroll in formal recruitment and go through the process with an open mind and you'll end up in the best sorority for you. Keep in mind that a sorority's reputation can rapidly change- seniors are graduating soon, some people will transfer to other schools, and then the next freshmen class will mean that any given sorority will be very different by October 1st from what they are now. www.npcwomen.org gives you some good info on sororities in general.
